My kittens eye, please save it?
Once an eye is ruptured, there is no treatment other than removing the eye. It's really a fairly minor surgery, and the kitten won't care one little bit. Animals don't feel sorry for themselves or handicapped when they lose an eye or limb - they just take it in stride and go about their business. I have had two foster kittens who had to have ruptured eyes removed - one was due to an untreated infection (prior to coming to rescue of course) the other was due to a corneal scratch. Both kittens are now much loved cats in their new homes. The only "issue" is that since the kitten's vision will of course be compromised, he must be kept indoors only for his own safety. Other than that, he will heal from his surgery and be none the worse for wear.
