What are your opinions of physical discipline with a belt?

I love people who ume that corporal punishment should be dismissed out of hand. Is not any form of discipline forcing your ideas on a less powerful person. Yelling at a child, grounding a child, taking valued objects away from a child, all of these are forms of punishment and the can be just has damaging to a child's mental health. I would be the first to admit that way too many parents cross the line from corporal punishment to abuse, and that is the risk of corporal punishment. I feel that it is a choice that parents should be allowed to make as an individual, not one that society should get to make for them.
